Your Goals

Prior to coming in for your appointment, it is helpful if you download, print and complete the confidential health form. When you come in, we will begin with a consultation and review your form so we can properly set the goals for your session(s). Then we’ll decide what techniques I will use, specific points to focus on, as well as how much pressure to apply. Please, try not to eat a big meal directly before an appointment as you will likely be lying down, relaxing and this might interfere with digestion. Drinking water before a massage is also highly recommended. In fact, drinking water in general is always suggested, as the body benefits from proper hydration, and consuming water will help the kidneys and other organs process the various substances which move through the human body on a regular basis. It will also make it easier for me to perform deep work by hydrating the muscles so that they are easier to manipulate.

After the consultation I will leave the room so that you may undress to your level of comfort, with undergarments on or off (your choice). Please do not be concerned, your privacy is always respected. If we are doing a more sports oriented massage, or if you prefer lots of stretching, then it is usually easier to leave on undergarments/shorts. If you have requested a Thai massage, please bring/wear loose, comfortable clothing for your session.

During the treatment, if you are too hot/cold, want more or less pressure, need to use the toilet, drink of water, blow your nose, or anything else, please, feel free to say so! This is your time and I want you to enjoy it. If you ever want to talk or ask questions feel free to or if you want to just chill out and take a nap it’s up to you. Again, it’s your massage and I want you to get the most out of it.

After the session it’s good to drink plenty of water to re-hydrate your muscles and help the body flush out any released substances from the muscles during the massage. Especially in the case of deep tissue massage. Massage stimulates circulation in the body while expressing water, salt, and other minerals from the muscles, and circulation is designed to carry away waste materials generated by cells. By providing the body with plenty of water, you better enable your body to sweep away these waste materials and receive the best benefits from the session; otherwise, they might build up, causing muscle aches and soreness after a massage. If you like I can recommend things to help prolong the effects of a massage and home care if you wish to do more between sessions to help your body stay more relaxed and fluid. Depending on why you are coming in I will also recommend when and how often you should come in for repeat sessions.

I look forward to seeing you soon!
